The Missouri Academy of Audiology is the state’s premier professional organization of, for and by audiologists. The active membership of more than 100 audiologists join together to provide the highest quality hearing healthcare to children and adults residing in the state of Missouri.
Welcome! I can say with conviction that if you had asked me a few years ago if I would be serving as MAA president in 2019 I would have chuckled and said something along the lines of “Maybe in 10 years” or “When my kids get older.” What lead me to this place was the suggestion of a trusted mentor, the certainty that we as audiologists can move profession forward, and the realization that the need is now. As president, I will carry on the strong work that MAA has been doing for over 25 years, and focus on growing our membership.
To meet these goals, we must be certain we are providing value to our members. To this end, I am asking you as members or non-members to reflect: Why do you belong to MAA? If you are not a member, what can we offer that would be of value to you? In order to share your insights with us, I ask you to click on the link and take the 5 minute survey related to the above ideas.
The answers to these questions will be shared with the executive board and our newly formed MAA membership committee– who will use the information to launch initiatives designed to both grow our numbers and offer Missouri audiologists programs and services which help advance our profession as a whole.
Additionally, the board is very happy to announce our 2019 Scope of Practice Convention in September in St. Louis. We are excited to welcome speakers on a diverse range of topics, including FM systems, to our convention this year. We will keep you informed as more information becomes available.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your MAA president. Look for more updates from me and the executive board as 2019 unfolds. We value your membership, your commitment to the field and your insights. The need is now, and together we can drive positive change both in our communities and our profession.
