Dear Fellow Professionals,
We need your urgent attention to upcoming bills in the Missouri House and Senate requiring insurance to cover hearing aids for children, HB 205 (introduced by Rep Anne Kelley) and SB 235 (introduced by Sen Bill White). The bill was crafted after the recently passed IL bill which is very vague.
We feel that if this bill is going to pass, we need to get some language in it to protect Missouri’s hearing impaired children and to keep insurance companies from paying as little as possible.
In order to do this we need one the Senators in the Missouri Health and Pensions Committee, where the bill currently rests, to write an amendment to the bill to support our recommendations. This would be best received by a constituent who lives in the district of one of the Senators on the committee. We need parents to contact their representative to gain their ear and support. We need at least one special parent who would be willing to attend a meeting with a Senator to gain support of an amendment. Below is a link to find your representative. http://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup/default.aspx/leg_lookup.aspx
I have also attached a list of MO senators who are on the Senate Missouri Health and Pensions Committee where this bill will first be heard. You can see from this if you are a constituent of the committee senators.
We need your help to convey this information to parents and other professionals to support our cause. Please see the attached letter that addresses changes we are advocating for an amendment to these bills for parents and professionals. They can add their input and personal experiences to request that their representatives sponsor an amendment to the bill to protect their children.
Please be a part of the Solution.
